Why Would I Remap My Car?

The main advantage of remapping your car is to boost speed and power. When your car left the factory, there’s a good chance that its performance was deliberately muted to meet product objectives and economy/efficiency targets. The power and performance of most cars is limited by the ECU (Engine Control Unit). The programming can effect parameters like air/fuel ratio, ignition timing and turbocharging boost pressure.

If you want better performance, power or improvements in miles per gallon, the first place to look is the ECU.

Let’s get to the benefits:

  1. Save on fuel: Lower engine loads and adjustments make your engine more efficient.

  2. Increased power: Through the ECU, we can safely increase the limits to create more power.

  3. Increased torque.

  4. Increased throttle - More responsive accelerating

What are the disadvantages?

People can be concerned that remapping could cause issues with their car, but if you use a reputable company, it shouldn’t affect the reliability of your car.

A remap does put extra strain on the engine, but it’s a safe amount if done properly. Most car engines are capable of better performance, so the added power with a remap shouldn’t cause any issue.

It is so important to listen to the technician when deciding which remap to go for.
